1. I have changed the format with which I compress the archives. They are now .7z self-extracting files that have .exe at the end. This is because this compresses the files more and so makes for faster upload and downloading and also makes it easier for you to extract the package. Just double click and it will extract the .tar package for you without the need to use any program to unpack.

2. Also feel free to translate the guides to any other language and link to the files elsewhere, you don't need to ask for permission. All I ask is that you include a link to XDA-Developers in your write up.

Carrier branded firmwares have been moved to a separate thread and can be found here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/show....php?t=1113928

20/06/2011

MAC Users I have found this utility that can handle .exe files to extract the archives called The Unarchiver. Link: http://wakaba.c3.cx/s/apps/unarchiver.html

20/06/2011

Thanks to Pulsar_S2 I have now been able to separate the component section of the thread into separate posts to make things less complicated. The first post has the tutorial and guide and the firmwares have been moved to separate posts right below. I hope it's a better layout.

20/09/2011

Please do not post links to packages from other places in this thread. It will help to avoid a lot of confusion when helping others when I know about the packages, when it's from elsewhere I cannot know what has been done to them and will not help people who use stuff I don't know about.

26/09/2011

Do not ask me questions about SamMobile, packages from SamMobile or from other places. How do you expect me to know about stuff from other websites?
These questions will be ignored

20/10/2011

I've started to package the tarball archives with the md5 hash to maintain the integrity of the packages. Just treat the tarballs in the same way as you would without the .md5 at the end. DO NOT CHANGE THE NAME OF THE ARCHIVE

15/11/2011

The quick root guide has been updated to make use of a much simpler tool to achieve root without the need for Odin or insecure kernel

20/01/2012

I've started to use 7Zip archives instead of self-executable ones to accommodate members using Macs and Linux as their primary OS. You can get 7Zip for free and it handles multiple formats Here we go guys, latest official firmware. Oldest firmware are listed first and newest will will be the last/bottom of the list. These can be found in the second and third posts of the thread

PDA refers to the build version of the firmware

Phone refers to the baseband/modem version

CSC is the consumer software customisation and is specific to geographical region and carriers. It contains the software packages specific to that region, carrier branding and also APN settings for data connection, MMS etc for your service provider.

CSC has nothing to do with what languages the firmware supports and it will not add keyboard language support either.

.PIT refers to the partition information table you only need it if you screw up your partition table or if the firmware specifically requires it because of a change in the partition table layout. It's very likely you may never have to use this.

If the package only contains one .tar archive then it will have everything, pda+phone+csc, in the one file.

If it has multiple .tar archive then:
  • The .tar with modem in the name is the phone/baseband bit of the package
  • .tar with csc/multi-csc in the name is the csc bit of the package
  • .tar with code/PDA in the name is the PDA part of the firmware package

If this is the case you will need to put these .tar archives in the specific areas of Odin to flash the update

The stock kernels are to be used to restore the kernel version after rooting and are not needed for updating the firmware.

You do not need to root or unroot the device to update the firmware.

Please ensure that KIES is closed and not running in the system tray! Kies doesn't like Odin, it's like the big brother who's always jealous that his little brother is getting to flash all the phones so he starts to flash block.

Iphone 4 video mode not working (Solved)

My iphone 4 used to work fine. One fine day the video mode just not working. Camera is working, switches to video is working, flash and auto focus are fine however the moment I pressed the record button, the video mode just grey out with no other choice except to press the home button...

Solve???

Turn out the JB app "FastSnap" is the root of the problem. You just uninstall the app from Cydia or just deactivate Silent Shutter to let video mode work again. Version 1.4 has this problem, install 1.34 may not cause this problem. Leave a comment if this helped you :)

Samsung wave s8500 bricked (Solved)

Hi everyone, long story short. I tried to update the leaked version of Bada 2.0.1 firmware S8500XPKG5 and broke my phone shortly half way into the process. So the case for me is a phone with one line of white on a pure black screen. Just that. So if I remove the battery or force shut down, the next moment when I on the phone, its pure pinky red screen of death. Scared the hell out of me for 2 days till I solved the whole broken down process.

Trouble shoot = Nutshell, I flashed on the wrong Multi loader. I did it on the v5.62 (WRONG!!!)
Warning : Make sure your phone is not carrier lock, sim lock or password lock of any kind.

So you are here with a bricked phone, this is the step that I took to recover my broken bricked wave S8500.
These are the full step by step to flash a firmware, follow only the red highlighted if your phone has broke like mine.

1) Make sure that the standard theme is installed
2) Download s8500xpkg5.rar and unpack the files
3) Install the included usb-driver before connecting your phone
4) Connect with Kies and restore the drivers
5) Close Kies
6) Start Multiloader
7) Drag and drop the files into Multiloader (All 8 files from "bootloader" to "ShpApp.app")
8) Select LSI, Full Download and Master ROM
9) Remove SD-Card, SIM-Card and battery, put the battery back in.
10) Click "port search" and after it finds a port "Download" (if it doesn't find a port, try a different usb port)
11) Wait until it is done! Takes about 10 minutes. (DO NOT POWER OFF)

12) Kies -> restore drivers
13) You can only sync contacts.

14) *#5239870*# --> PreConfig --> *#27236*# -->confirm --> XEU (UK setting)
15) *#33284*# --> Low (to avoid bluescreens)

Here is a video I made to show you my process, leave a comments if this helps you :)

2. Open Mail, Contacts, Calendars.

4. Select Microsoft Exchange.

5. In the Email field, enter your full Google Account email address.

          exampleuser@gmail.com / exampleuser@googlemail.com

6. Leave the Domain field blank.
7. Enter your full Google Account email address as the Username.
8. Enter your Google Account password as the Password. (Must be 8 characters)
9. Tap Next at the top of your screen.
9a. Choose Cancel if the Unable to Verify Certificate dialog appears.
10. When the new Server field appears, enter m.google.com.
11. Press Next at the top of your screen again.

Leave use SSL "On". Guys you should not be prompt for incorrect password again. Enjoy now google contact will be wirelessly sync into your iphone. You can find your google contact in your iphone global contacts.

Step by Step process to hack N82 v31.0.016, E71 110.07.127, N-95-1 V31.0.017

1.03 update

- MapDrives no longer needed, mapping drives code is now built-in HelloOX, that's mean hacking is much more easier, one app does all the step!(credit must go to FCA00000)
- All mapped drives would remove automatic, no reboot needed for removing them
- Since ROMPatcher doesn't works on some FP2 device, installing it is now an optional for FP2 user, no patches would apply and add to autostart, must do them menual
- Some guys complain cannot play N-GAGE games, the main problem is open4all patch applied. So, all ROMPatcher patches would not add to autostart on all device, must do it menual if you want
- Install rootCerts option removed from Pre FP1 & FP1 device, because installserver is enough. If you wanna install it, please install it menual from E:\HelloOX\updaterD.sisx before uninstall HelloOX
- Install Modo(a TCB file manger by leftup) is now an optional for all device
*If you hacked your phone already, you don't have to use this update version to hack it again! An update just make this app better, it will not hack for more!*

[N8] H2O Mods pack! come in SIS installer format

http://i8910tuning.com/ had did it again, now hacking your N8 doesn't require us to flash N8. The mod will be coming in SIS installer format. Here is what he said on his blog.

Hi guys :)
This post is about a mod pack I have made…the pack includes all the mods from H2O, but it is for people who don’t like all the mods, or they fear to flash their device again or they just can’t do it at the moment :)
But, most of all it is for people who would like to make their own mod or just customize mods in H2O…
that’s why this post includes the DOCUMENTATION and explaining about almost all the mods included :)
so, here’s the sis file with all the mods, you can choose which mods to install during the installation ;)
DOWNLOAD: FAENIL’S H2O MODPACK
(FEEL FREE TO SHARE IT BUT REPORT CREDITS AND PUT A LINKBACK TO www.i8910tuning.com, THANKS)
INSTRUCTIONS :
- ONCE YOU HAVE INSTALLED THE MODS, REMEMBER TO DELETE THE CORRESPONDING .CRE FILE IN C:/PRIVATE/10202BE9/persists/  , and then REBOOT. YOU CAN SEE THE NAME OF THE FILE YOU HAVE TO DELETE FROM THE DOCUMENTATION BELOW! FOR EXAMPLE, IF YOU WANT TO INSTALL THE GALLERY MOD, INSTALL THE SIS, THEN GO TO C:/PRIVATE/10202BE9/PERSISTS/ AND DELETE 102828AC.cre and 200009FE.cre IF THERE IS ANY!
COMMON PROBLEMS:
- IF YOU GET “UPDATE ERROR” IT MEANS THAT YOU ARE USING SOME OTHER MODS THAT USES THE SAME FILES! YOU HAVE TO UNISTALL THEM FIRST, IF YOU WANT TO USE MY MODS, OTHERWISE THE PACKAGE CAN’T INSTALL.
and here’s the documentation! :)

Taking screenshot of Nokia N8, Symbian^3 using Screensnap [pic tutorial]

How to take screenshot on your Nokia devices? I tried installed on N8 and worked like a charm. Missing the Iphone screenshot using power button + home button? Well then you are in for some treats. Download and install screensnap 2.0.

After installed, open the screensnap under application, put to background and start using your shortcut key (camera button for me) and snap away

Screensnap 2.00
Things to note, by default it save the image into phone memory instead of mass memory. Remember to change it to memory card if you have them inserted.

How to choose your N8 color

Hi people, note down this big big dates, Nokia N8 officially release on 5 Nov. Finally. It comes in 5 colors and what will you choose? Let me give you a little statistic from a recent poll as well as color senses to help you pick your best color. I know its hard. It didn't surprise me that black came up as first most wanted color, but the least wanted color did. I thought green was featured many times in the ads, why had it became the most unwanted color. Anyway already pre ordered the orange and CLP ordered the green. Oh, btw I seen the actual phone at Vivo city when a person applying his screen protector on. I instantly identify the gorgeous baby. It was an absolute head turner, specially with my illuminates orange.
